Jerry Nickerson
Jerry Nickerson was a member of the Garland City Council in Texas, representing District 3. Nickerson assumed office in 2017. Nickerson left office on June 15, 2021.
Nickerson ran for re-election to the Garland City Council to represent District 3 in Texas. Nickerson won in the general election on May 4, 2019.
Biography
Nickerson earned a B.S. in environmental geography and a B.S. in civil engineering from Texas A&M University. At the time of his 2017 run for office, he was the vice president of facilities and development for the Parkland Hospital Health System. Nickerson has also served as the secretary treasurer for Green Forest Water Utilities.[1]

The city of Garland, Texas, held an election for mayor and city council on May 6, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was February 17, 2017.
Mayor Douglas Athas ran for re-election in 2017. The city council seats in Districts 3, 6, 7, and 8 were also up for election. Jerry Nickerson defeated Edward Moore in the runoff election for the District 3 seat on the Garland City Council.[2]

In response to a question from the Dallas Morning News about the three most important actions he would take if elected, Nickerson said:
“ | Help to build a collaborative City Council and improve communication with the citizens of Garland and District 3
Improve the transparency of the decision making process. Improve the outreach to the citizens of Garland and especially those of District 3 and South Garland. None of these action will require increased cost and will in fact provide opportunities to decrease costs and increase economic growth.[4] |
