Jerry Stermer
Jerry Stermer is the former interim Illinois Comptroller. He was first appointed to the position on December 19, 2014, as a temporary replacement for Judy Baar Topinka (R), who died earlier in the month. Topinka won re-election to a new term on November 4, 2014, raising questions about how the vacancy would be filled.[1] Click here to read more about this debate. Biography
Stermer served as the budget director for Gov. Pat Quinn (D) from February 2009 until his appointment to the comptroller's office. He previously worked for seven years with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and as president of Voices for Illinois Children.[1]

Illinois Comptroller (2014-2015)
Stermer was appointed as Illinois Comptroller on December 19, 2014, to fill the remaining three weeks of Judy Baar Topinka's term following her death earlier in the month.[1] He resigned office on January 12, 2015, the same day that officers elected in the November elections were sworn into office. Newly elected Gov. Bruce Rauner (R) appointed Leslie Munger (R) to succeed Stermer.
