Trevino ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Texas' 27th District. He and Rose Meza Harrison defeated Murphy Alade Junaid and Ronnie McDonald in the Democratic primary on May 29, 2012. Trevino was defeated in the subsequent runoff election.[1][2][3][4]
