2014

Hamilton's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[8]

Affordable Housing

  • Excerpt: "The loss of affordable housing has thrown many low income and elderly residents into homelessness, and has left renters sacrificing food and healthcare in order to stay in their homes. My efforts will focus on increasing access to affordable housing, reforming rent-setting policies, requiring developers to provide more affordable units, and protecting renters from being priced out of neighborhoods they helped build."

NYCHA Housing

  • Excerpt: "We need to invest in our public housing, making sure that NYCHA residents have the quality affordable housing they deserve. We need to increase services for NYCHA residents, making sure our senior centers and community centers are fully funded and more money is allocated for repairs."

Seniors

  • Excerpt: "I will fight to lower requirements and increase funding for senior centers, the Heat Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Senior Citizens Rent Increase Exemption (SCRIE) and other programs that help seniors lower their cost of living."

Job Creation

  • Excerpt: "Growing our economy is one of the most pressing issues facing our district. I believe in the importance of job creation and economic opportunities for all to strengthen New York’s middle class. I support strengthening our economy through continued investment in infrastructure, transportation and education."

Labor

  • Excerpt: "I believe that the an essential part of an effective strategy to grow the middle class is to help people get out of poverty and promote economic equality by encouraging collective bargaining, increased unionization, and shared employee ownership."

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in New York

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
