Here are the highlights - go to my website if you would like to schedule time to meet and learn more about me. 10+ years working in city government, helping neighbors; 10+ years guiding amazing teams through change and getting things done; 14+ years of professional experience in information organization, access, and security, including a Master's degree in Library and Information Sciences; Born and raised in Amarillo; Always focused on community first.
  • District Clerks are essential to maintaining and securing accurate court records and providing excellent service to community members and professionals interacting with the courts through jury duty and records access. If elected and honored with Potter County community trust, my first goal will be to ensure a smooth transition into the role, while creating as little negative impact for community members and court employees as possible. I also understand that there has been a great deal of turnover and disruption to this team, so I expect to dedicate time to stabilizing and re-motivating the department.
  • My second goal is to assess services and ensure that Potter County residents and anyone interacting with the courts in Potter County are centered in process and policies as much as possible. This will include careful listening to current and previous employees of the department, as well as other Potter County departments, and those community members that are interacting with the District Clerk department.
  • Third, I hope to raise awareness about the Potter County election process. This role is so integral to court operations that I am surprised that it is an elected position AND that the election is partisan rather than skills-focused. There is potential to disrupt essential Potter County services with frequent turnover and loss of institutional knowledge as was demonstrated in the last few years in this department. Throughout my campaign, I hope to bring awareness to the disconnect of focusing on partisanship when electing a position that requires high technical knowledge and experience.
Related to the responsibilities of this position, I am passionate about stellar customer service and improving the user experience when supporting the community as they interact with bureaucratic, sometimes intimidating institutions like courts. I am also a strong defender of residents' information security and privacy protection. And I have spent much of my career defending and supporting efficient and equal access to vital information for community members. If elected, I will carry these passions and 14+ years' experience putting them to work into the District Clerk department.
