I am a mom of 3 daughters who attend Ed White Elementary, two of which will be at Seabrook Intermediate next year and have 22 years experience in the education realm. I have a bachelor’s in mathematics from Texas A&M and 2 master’s in education for UHCL. I taught middle school and high school math and was an adjunct professor at Galveston College. While teaching, I spent my summers working at NASA and eventually took on a role as an Education Manager managing student and teacher STEM programs. I am currently a local real estate agent. I am active in my daughters’ school serving on the executive board of the PTA as the VP of Fundraising. I am a Girl Scout leader.
  • As a former educator, I have first-hand experience and know the challenges our teachers and staff face. I want to use my education experience to be an advocate for them and to recruit quality teachers and retain them once they are here. Teachers are the front-line workers of education. We must make sure we are providing them the resources needed (physically and emotionally) to successfully teach our children. They have been through a lot this past year, and many are burned-out. We need to continue to find ways to recruit and retain highly-qualified educators to maintain high academic standards.
  • I will push for transparency, conservative spending and fiscal accountability ensuring your tax dollars are spent with the students’ best interests in mind.
  • We are fortunate to have so many different opportunities in our district but as we implement more of these programs in our schools, we need to make sure we have opportunities for all students across the district.
I want to ensure all students are able to succeed in a K-12 setting and be prepared to move on to the next step. We want to help identify each individual students' strengths and help them find their passion.
The Challenger disaster. I remember sitting in my elementary classroom (like most of the students in the US at the time) and watching it on tv. Afterwards, there were a lot of hard conversations that day at school and looking back on it, I can't imagine the pressure on each teacher in the classroom who tried to explain and console their students.
Good to Great. It is an excellent book for leaders.
