I am a business owner. My husband runs a snack food distribution company and I am a barber by trade. We are middle school sweethearts. My husband has lived in Searsport and Stockton Springs all of his life. I have visited family in Searsport, Swanville and Stockton Springs since I was born, and began to call Searsport my permanent home 25 years ago. We are raising our three wonderful children together, our dog, Rosie, a Newfoundland/Great Pyrenees and our cat, Margo.

I have been a strong community advocate for years, helping individuals and organizations succeed by collecting donations, raising money through the annual March Madness Benefit, or volunteering my time to ensure the needs of the people in our area are met. I have been vocal at school board meetings, and organized an effort to save our local schools from closure when former RSU 71 was threatening to close Searsport's Middle and High Schools. I spearheaded an effort to re-vision our school so we could become self sufficient. Out of those Focus on the Future events, the concepts for the Maine Ocean School emerged. I currently serve on the town of Searsport's Budget Advisory Committee.

I know what it is like to struggle through poverty and to raise a special needs child. These two hardships have helped make me the strong advocate I am today and I will use those same skills at the State House to represent you. I feel it is important for Mainers to be represented by someone they can identify with.

  • I am not a politician.
  • I support small businesses and a stronger economy.
  • Maine cannot afford higher taxes.
I am passionate about representing the needs and ideas of the people I serve. I want to businesses to have a louder voice at the table as we approach 2021, so we can recover the needs of the economy. Mainers are concerned about increased taxes.

Waldo county is one of the poorest counties in the state of Maine. My constituents are concerned about the decreasing value of their hard earned dollars. They cannot afford to pay higher gas taxes or property taxes. We need better paying jobs and we need businesses to be open in such a way their employees can make a living by having less government interference. Maine families should be able to afford better housing and their groceries and keep more of their money in their pockets.
A State Representative should be compassionate, insightful and seek understanding of the situation their constituents bring to their attention. They should be able to consider a bill and determine what real effects it will have on the people who live in their district as well as the next generation by asking questions and conducting research. If necessary our State Representatives should be able to be independent thinkers, willing to educate the caucus on the understanding they have gained to see if the bill may need to be amended to better serve their communities. They should be strong enough to stand up for what they believe to be right and be an articulate, strong advocate for those causes.
One of our biggest challenges is going to be recovering our economy from the effects of the Coronavirus mitigation efforts.
I am a strong believing in having good relationships with other legislators whether in the same party or the opposite party. Having a strong caucus is important in terms of being able to be effective in the State House. Being respectful and courteous to people with opposing views is also important for the same reason, even if it is a legislator from the other party.
I am interested in serving on State and Local Government or Department of Health and Human Services or the Education Committee.
