Jessica Ehrlich
Jessica Ehrlich was a 2014 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. House representing the 13th Congressional District of Florida.
She announced on April 18, 2013, that she planned to challenge incumbent C.W. Bill Young in 2014.[1] Young died on October 18, 2013, following complications resulting from a chronic injury.[2][3][4]
Ehrlich announced in early November 2013 that she no longer plans to run in the special election for the seat.[5]
She was a 2012 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 13th Congressional District of Florida. Ehrlich ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on August 14, 2012. She was defeated by C.W. Bill Young on November 6, 2012.[6]

Issues
Letter from Beverly Young
Beverly Young, the widow of former Florida congressman Bill Young, sent a message to former governor Charlie Crist telling him not to attend her late husband's funeral service on October 24, 2013.[9]
According to the Tampa Bay Times, Mrs. Young wrote in the message: “This e-mail is to officially advise you that your presence at my husband’s memorial services will be unacceptable. I have watched over the years, as Bill had, your transparent attempts to manipulate the political arena. I don’t want my husband’s memorial service to be another opportunity for that and I will not tolerate anyone turning this into a platform for political gain. Please honor my family’s request.”[9]
Young sent a similar message to Ehrlich as well as to Charlie Justice, both of whom previously ran against her late husband.[9]
Elections
2014
Ehrlich was running in the 2014 election for the U.S. House, representing Florida's 13th District.[10] She announced in early November 2013 that she no longer planned to run in the special election for the seat.[11]
In April 2014, Ehrlich announced she would not run for the seat in the regularly scheduled election.[12] '
2012
Ehrlich ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Florida's 13th District. She won the nomination on the Democratic ticket.[13] Candidates wishing to run were required to file by the signature filing deadline of June 8, 2012. The primary elections were held on August 14, 2012. Ehrlich ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. She was defeated by C.W. Bill Young on November 6, 2012.[14]
