After moving to Mecklenburg County in 2019, my husband and I quickly fell in love with our new home. Soon after settling in, I joined the Climate Reality Project and Sunrise Movement and began taking on more responsibility as I became more entrenched in our community.

Throughout the pandemic, I helped organize for climate and racial justice, both virtually and, eventually, in person. Throughout the past six years, I’ve helped organize marches, door-knocked, gathered petition signatures, and relentlessly strived to create a safe and healthy community for all people.

My community is what pushes me to help build a greater future for Mecklenburg County. My friends and neighbors inspire me every day to be the best version of myself and are truly representative of how special our county is. Because of the people I’ve befriended, worked beside, and marched with, I am deeply dedicated to justice and activism in my work.

As the former co-coordinator of the Charlotte hub of the Sunrise Movement, the former secretary of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg NAACP, and active member of the JVP Charlotte pod, I will fight every day to ensure we provide justice for all and create a thriving community in Mecklenburg County.
  • Housing: A Human Right, Not a Market Luxury

    - Expand affordable and workforce housing to ensure stability, safety, and dignity for every family.

    - Prioritize anti-displacement strategies that keep long-time residents rooted in their communities.

    - Support community-driven development with non-profits and grassroots organizations already doing the work on the ground in Mecklenburg County.

    - Ensure residents are aware of county funds for lowering energy bills and making housing more stable through programs like HOMES and LIHEAP
  • Environmental Stewardship and Smart Growth - Protect air and water quality, preserve tree canopy, and expand accessible green space through community gardens, access to bike lanes, and laying the foundation for 15-minute neighborhoods - Champion renewable energy programs by taking advantage of funds available through the Inflation Reduction Act. - Ensure environmental justice: frontline Black and brown neighborhoods should not bear disproportionate pollution. - We cannot have housing justice, racial justice, or economic justice without considering environmental justice.
  • Providing Educational Stability and Equality for All Communities Support liveable wages and access to proper resources for all teachers. Address the lack of third spaces for our youth in Mecklenburg County to build community and offer educational opportunities outside of the traditional school settings. Invest in school upgrades across the county, including in electric buses, solar panels, and more, to ensure every student has access to the resources and structures they need to thrive.
