Jessica Miranda participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on April 11, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Jessica Miranda's responses follow below.[5]
What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
“ | 1) Education: Ensuring better funding to public schools 2) Economy: Ensuring working families the opportunity to build wealth |
” |
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?
“ | Public education. I am a proud product of public education and a Board of Education President for a public school District. Resources for our schools are decreasing while the funneling of our tax dollars increases to failing charter schools. This epidemic needs to be addressed.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[7]

2016
Miranda's campaign website highlighted the following issues:
“ |
Job Creation: Government has the responsibility to create a quality of life in which job creation can flourish. Ohio job opportunities will prosper only if we create and maintain an educated workforce, improve infrastructure and transportation and increase technology access for our residents. Economic Opportunity: I am motivated to run for State Representative to help all Ohioans achieve a living wage and equal pay. Our state minimum wage should insure that all working individuals earn a living above the poverty level. I support legislation guaranteeing women equal pay for equal work. That is an essential fundamental of economic equality and fairness for Ohio. Education: I support transparency and accountability for all schools. Winton Woods schools improved with increased standards for attendance, curriculum and fiscal responsibility. Ohio will improve its educational opportunities for students by funding and focusing such resources for its public schools. Public Safety:
Taxation and Budget: I do not support tax breaks for Ohio's wealthiest earners who currently have their lowest tax rates in 35 years. Such tax breaks benefit the few at the expense of the middle class. I oppose repealing the Ohio Income Tax and replacing it with a consumption sales tax. This would place further financial burdens on middle and lower income families.[7] |

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states. To contribute to the list of Ohio scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
