I work as an attorney for Stanislaus County, I am also the Chair of the Stanislaus County Democratic Party, and a proud member of Operating Engineers Local 3. I was born in Fresno and grew up in Simi Valley. I attended UCSB, where I graduated with a degree in Political Science, then went to law school in Orange County at Western State University College of Law. I moved to Modesto in 2013 to begin working as an attorney for Stanislaus County in the Office of the Public Defender. My husband and I fell in love with this community and decided to plant roots here and make this our home. We later moved my grandparents and parents up here. We live right in the middle of Modesto with our dog Dewey, and cat Ollie. Eric, my husband, is a Marine Veteran, former union Millwright, and now a realtor. While living in Modesto I have served on several nonprofit and political boards serving our community on issues I am passionate about, and I intend to continue this service in the Assembly. I am running to improve the daily lives of all Valley residents by helping to lower housing and healthcare costs, fighting for local control of our water rights, supporting educators and schools in providing quality education to our students, incentivizing new businesses to come here and provide good wages and benefits, making our neighborhoods safer, beautifying our community, and creating new opportunities for entertainment, arts, sports, and cultural activities.
  • Bringing good paying jobs to our community will be a top priority when I am elected. Too many of our citizens are forced into grueling daily commutes just to earn a living. I will fight to bring high quality jobs with living wages and good benefits to our district, so that all our kids can expect to see their parents by dinnertime, and everyone can afford to pay for their needs and have a high quality of life.
  • When people who work full-time can’t afford to house themselves or their families in our community, you know the system is broken. Too many people are sleeping in their cars, spending more than half of their pay on housing, or living in squalid conditions. We must act now to provide access to affordable housing for people at all income levels.
  • As the daughter and sister of schoolteachers, I know that quality schools that are well-funded and supported are the hallmark of successful communities. I will work to increase funding for our schools, support our teachers and support staff, and focus on vocational training and higher education for students once they graduate. All of our students deserve to be successful, and they also need a bridge from high school to adulthood. Right now, far too many students are falling through the cracks and that is unacceptable.
I am particularly passionate about quality-of-life issues such as housing, healthcare, education, jobs, and safety. Based on my extensive work in the criminal justice system I am also very interested in meaningful criminal justice reform and equitable solutions for mental health and substance abuse issues.
