Political philosophy

Spear submitted the following statement about her political philosophy to Ballotpedia:[6]

Highlighting and giving a voice to the interests of people are paramount to this campaign. However, the campaign platform cannot be achieved by electing a single socialist to public office. Our campaign calls on all supporters to get actively involved and demand their right to a dignified life - to high quality housing, food, education, and healthcare. History shows us that radical change is only possible when tens of thousands of ordinary people unite in movements demanding their rights. Socialists work for concrete gains in the here and now, but have a vision of a future society where the economy is organized to meet human and environmental need, not profits.

I am running for office to give a voice to renters that face skyrocketing rent increases, teachers, parents, and students that face criminally underfunded education, and environmentalists that are tired of the foot-dragging by the Democratic Party on global warming. This campaign continues the project of building a third party that represents the interests of the millions, not the millionaires. We hope it will inspire many more independent, left-wing campaigns in the future to challenge the corporate domination of politics.[7]
