I'm running for Indiana State House of Representatives, District 51 (covering most of Steuben and LaGrange counties). Please accept my invitation and join me in my efforts to retire Denny Zent by voting Coler in the May 3rd primary election, and by voting Democratic in the November 8th midterm election.
  • Cannabis legalization will be one of my main focuses in the Indiana House of Representatives. Why does Indiana continue to arrest and jail our friends, family, and neighbors for possession of marijuana for personal use? It is past time Indiana joined the 37 states that allow for medical cannabis use, and the 18 states that have legalized marijuana for both recreational and medical purposes.
  • Legislators pandering to the most vocal and extreme voices in their party are seeking to dismantle public education in the state. We must not let them succeed.
  • Rural broadband is a lifeline for remote communities. The lack of access to the internet for rural households in Steuben and LaGrange counties is restricting growth in the area, putting our children behind their peers, and must be made a priority. As your Representative, I will prioritize the implementation of rural broadband.
In typical Democratic fashion, I support things like decimalization of marijuana, abortion rights, voting rights, LGBTQ rights and the rights of minorities in general. I also support strong social safety nets, alternative energy solutions (solar power has great potential in Indiana, for example), and other green/conservation/environmental issues. These things are generally NOT being advocated for by our current Representative.
The first historical event I distinctly remember was the Challenger explosion. I was a 9 year old elementary school student at Hendry Park Elementary at the time. The whole school watched in excitement during the preparation and launch, only to be stunned into silence moments later. I later lived in Cape Canaveral and had the pleasure of watching multiple shuttles launch from the comfort of my living room.
