Born in Cayey, Puerto Rico Jesus Gonzalez has been living in the 13th Senate District over the past ten years. Jesus has witnessed the struggle many people are faced with on a daily basis in the community. Jesus has identified the struggles of job loss, regulations on small business (including fines and penalties, over crowded hospitals, and overcrowded schools. As the Republican candidate Jesus has made a pledge to support all local merchants on Roosevelt Avenue (and throughout the district) to help improve business, and make our streets safer.

At the age of 16, (while attending high school) Jesus started serving his community in Cayey, Puerto. As the youngest volunteer fire fighter on the Island, he worked every day after school (including weekends). He attended emergency medical technician courses; including volunteering with the national civil defense organization, where he trained for terrorism preparedness with the Puerto Rican Government. Jesus also participated in the Home Land Security readiness program in Puerto Rico, and served as the administrative coordinator for the Puerto Rico Fire Academy.

Upon graduation from High school, Jesus became the first member of his family to attend college. In 2005, he graduated from the Universidad Del Turabo with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, and a minor in Business Management and Accounting. In 2007, he received a Master's degree in Business Administration with a minor in Human Resources Administration fro

My first job was a Fire Fighter in Puerto Rico, serving the citizen extinguishing fires and rescue lives, was there for over 10 + years where also i worked as a Paramedic and Hazardous Material Technician over my tenure of serving the community.
None both chambers ( Upper and Lower) Legislate ( Create) laws but are needed to streamline legislation on the fair way possible for the best interest of our community.
I believe any politician should be involved in the community they wish to represent so they know what are the issues and how are able to contribute and fix them
I believe in equal opportunity and equal zoning not in favor of anyone. All citizen needs our representation and our attention on the issues they bring us and address them on timely manner.

2016

In a biographical submission to Ballotpedia, Gonzalez detailed the following campaign themes:

  • Work to increase funding for education to establish more schools, create more vocational and technical programs, enhance math and science programs and offer more ESL programs to students ( 70% of the district population is not fluent in English), thereby, improve the quality of education of our youth for better future.
  • Work to increase funding for the health system to allow the building of more urgent care clinics, enhance research on cancer cure and create more mental health programs, our district currently has one hospital with an inadequate number of staff, overcrowded with patients every day. With the creation of more urgent clinics, community members will receive medical care at a faster and shorter rate while easing the overcrowding problem at hospitals, as well. In the mental health aspect, hiring more social workers will increase the community’s ability in handling cases such as depression, domestic violence, and addiction especially in early stages.
  • Support small businesses by providing tax credits, eliminating unnecessary regulations and high taxes, in order to improve the growth, reduce job loss and increase their success rate. With a healthier economic condition in the district, community members will become more stable and self-sufficient leading to a decreased dependence on government aid.[10]
