Jhone Ebert
Jhone Ebert was the Nevada Superintendent of Public Instruction. Ebert assumed office on April 2, 2019. Ebert left office on May 14, 2025.
Biography
Ebert obtained a B.A. in math from California State University-Fresno and a master of education in instructional and curricular studies from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She was the senior deputy commissioner for P-20 education policy at the New York State Education Department from 2015 to 2019. Before that, Ebert worked in the Clark County School District for 25 years, including in positions such as chief innovation and productivity officer and chief technology officer. She began her career as a mathematics teacher in Las Vegas, Nevada.[1]
Political career
Nevada Superintendent of Public Instruction (2019-2025)
Ebert assumed the duties of superintendent on April 2, 2019.[1] She took over the role from interim Superintendent Jonathan Moore. Moore assumed the position after former superintendent Steve Canavero resigned on February 6, 2019. Ebert left office on May 14, 2025, after being selected as superintendent for Clark County Public Schools.[2]

The Nevada Superintendent of Public Instruction is a state executive position in the Nevada state government.
The superintendent, appointed by the State Board of Education, oversees the Department of Education and implements policy agreed upon by the board.[3]
