Campaign themes

2017

Sun's campaign website included the following themes for 2017:

Q: Why have you chosen to seek election to the Elmbrook Board of Education?
A: I want to bring a fresh voice to the district, attract and retain the best teachers, allow our students to excel, and get our schools recognized as one of the best in the nation. I believe my broad career experience and passion for education can bring tremendous value to the district. As first generation immigrants, my wife and I are incredibly grateful for the opportunities that Wisconsin has provided to our family.

We have enjoyed first hand, the benefits of a thriving public school system, one that both our children have attended, and I believe it is time to give back.

Q: What personal philosophies and experience do you have that will help best represent the Elmbrook electorate?
A: I can bring new and global perspective to education while listening to our parents and students. I’ve spent 15 years serving dozens of Fortune 500 companies as a technologist and have learned how to accommodate the diverse needs of different departments, come up with unique and creative solutions, and complete projects on time and on budget. I’m not afraid to have big goals and understand how to take the steps to achieve those goals. In the past [6] years as an entrepreneur in the education industry, I’ve grown the Total-Care Program from just an idea to the second fastest growing firm in southeastern Wisconsin as recognized by the Milwaukee Business Journal. I’ve learned how to successfully attract high quality partners and employees and retain the best workforce.

I’ve learned how to engage hundreds of high school students to motivate them to be the best they can be. In my experience, every student has a strength and it is up to us as parents and educators to identify and nurture these talents. We have the ability to help every student achieve excellence.

Elmbrook Schools has already been recognized as one of the best in Wisconsin but I believe we can do even better. I am working with dozens of schools worldwide regardless public or private, successful programs learned from those schools can be introduced to our school district.

Serving the community has always been one of my core values. In partnership with several retired music teachers from Elmbrook Schools, we founded the Wisconsin Intergenerational Orchestra last year to provide opportunities for musicians of all ages from the community to come together.[4][5]
