Campaign themes
2014
Oberlander's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]
Education
- Excerpt: "Greenwich public schools are a model for other schools and I will work tirelessly to ensure they continue to set the standard for excellence. Greenwich deserves more state funding to update our aging school buildings and to support our free and reduced lunch population."
Transportation
- Excerpt: "I support upgrades to our transportation infrastructure that will directly improve the quality of life for Greenwich residents. The Special Transportation Fund, which holds money intended for such improvements, should be secure and not raided for other purposes. We need that money - here and now - to improve our transportation network, which will in turn strengthen our state's economy."
Jobs, the Economy and Fiscal Responsibility
- Excerpt: "We need to do all we can to make Connecticut a state that welcomes and supports its business community. As home to many world-class companies and successful small enterprises, it is critical that we remain a competitive and attractive place to operate. "
Environment and Natural Resources
- Excerpt: " I support the adoption of a strategic plan for Long Island Sound and other water sources. We must protect this precious resource and plan for smart and reasonable usage and growth."
Seniors
- Excerpt: "I will be a strong advocate to ensure that our State funded long-term care facilities run effectively and provide services in a safe and caring manner. I will make sure that families have the necessary information to make informed decisions and ensure their loved ones are safe, secure and cared for appropriately. "
