Bernas' campaign website highlighted the following issues:

How are you going to fix the budget?

I am going to Springfield to represent you. That means prioritizing spending on core government services like education and roads, rethinking government to more efficiently provide services, and reforming programs to improve quality while decreasing costs.

Will you increase property taxes?

No. I will push for reforms that lower property taxes. In Illinois, we already pay the 3rd highest property tax in the nation pricing families out of their homes and forcing them out of Illinois. The best way to reign in individual property taxes is through economic growth and giving local governments the ability to control costs. Local government leaders have called for budget control. Unfortunately, the politicians in Springfield have failed to act.

How will you provide for the programs and services we need?

I want to help and serve people today. Families that need access to Medicaid today. Individuals with disabilities who need support today. Children who need access to quality schools today.

A vote for my opponent is a vote for the same policies that are hurting the truly vulnerable, wasting our tax dollars and driving families and businesses out of our State.

A vote for Jillian Rose Bernas is a vote to make Illinois an attractive state for businesses and families, achieved by growing the economy and reforming failing systems that can save the state money. With reform, courage and leadership, we will provide services and programs for those that need them.

What will you do for education?

As a former teacher, I believe that every child deserves access to a world-class education. I am running for office to make our K-12 education systems a priority. Rather than continuing to spend money on political pet projects, I support a call by Governor Rauner to increase education funding by $400 million. At the same time, we need to improve the way we spend that money by eliminating wasteful bureaucracy, putting more money into our classrooms.[1]
