Jim Beck (Georgia)
Jim Beck (Republican) is a former Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner. Beck was elected to the office on November 6, 2018.
On May 16, 2019, Beck was suspended from his position by Gov. Brian Kemp (R) after federal prosecutors released a 38-count indictment against him.[1] Click here to read more.

Georgia Insurance Commissioner (2019)
Beck was elected to the statewide office of insurance and safety fire commissioner on November 6, 2018. He was sworn in on January 14, 2019. As commissioner, Beck led the statewide office responsible for regulating the state's insurance industry and oversees all Georgia fire safety initiatives.

Georgia Insurance Commissioner indicted
Georgia Insurance Commissioner Jim Beck was indicted on federal charges of fraud and money laundering on May 14, 2019. The charges included stealing over $2 million from his former employer and using those funds to pay for his 2018 campaign. According to U.S. attorney Byung Pak, the alleged crimes took place between February 2013 and August 2018.[2]
Beck turned himself in to the Federal Bureau of Investigation on May 15, 2019, and has denied all of the allegations against him.[1]
On May 16, 2019, Beck was suspended from his position by Gov. Brian Kemp (R) after federal prosecutors released the 38-count indictment against him.[1]
According to AJC, Beck's attorney said, "[Beck] acted legally and in good faith in his employment." He also said Beck would fight the charges and planned to maintain his job as the state's insurance commissioner.[3]
On August 14, 2019, a federal grand jury added one count of mail fraud and four counts of aiding and assisting in the preparation of false tax returns for the 2014 through 2017 tax years against Beck.[4]
On October 12, 2021, U.S. District Court Judge Mark Cohen sentenced Beck to seven years and three months in prison.[5]
