I have lived in Missouri my entire life. I have been an educator for over 40 years. I also worked for two years at the Missouri Department of Education in Jefferson City. I come from a family of farmers. I want to preserve the family farm, support and raise our quality of education, and support the working men and women in our state.
  • Preserve the rights and ability of our working men and women to earn a decent wage.
  • Protect our retired teachers, support our teachers and administrators, and enhance funding for education.
  • Protect and preserve our family frams.

Honesty is the most important characteristic an official can have. Being honest with what the official would like to see done, bills he/she has sponsored or voted for, and why he/she sponsored or voted for those bills is paramount for that official.

Integrity is another important characteristic. If the official follows the will of his/her constituents and doesn't bend to outside influences, they will be following the right path.
I believe that I am well spoken and can make my opinions and feelings clear on any topic. I am also a good listener through which I can ascertain what people are trying to tell me and see their point of view. I have been in many leadership roles throughout my life and can be persuasive when necessary. I will also fight hard for a proposal I am behind.
The official's core responsibilities are to the people living in his/her district. Listening to their needs and providing solutions as far as possible is why the official is elected. Those responsibilities, in this case, also extend to all the citizens of the state.
That I was a man of integrity who would always try to do what was right for the people I served.
The assassination of President Kennedy. I still remember it vividly. I was seven years odl.
Ray Kinsella, Kevin Costner's character in Field of Dreams. To be able to watch baseball greats from the past play ball again and to actually talk to them would be fantastic.
I have been a Type 1 diabetic since age two. To manage my health with work has always been a challenge. At times the costs of my insulin and medication has been stressful in addition to raising a family and maintaining my career.
The two chambers of the Legislature are designed as part of the system of checks and balances in our government. A bill coming from one chamber can be amended or changed by the other chamber. This is designed to produce the best possible final law for our state.
. I do not believe it is necessary for all legislators to have previous experience in politics. They should all know how our government works and how laws are made. However bringing new ideas from outside the political arena is good for the system.
With the advent of the Coronavirus pandemic, funding is going to be a huge concern. The state will have to supply funding for the things it has always funded in addition to paying for the medical necessities and unemployment benefits now being demanded. Medicare, education, farming, and infrastructure are some of the important areas the state will need to continue to fund at current or increased levels.
The governor and legislature must work together to provide laws and funding for the betterment of all the people of Missouri. Compromise is one of the keys. The governor and the legislature must be able to communicate with each other to secure the most equitable budget, bills and laws for our citizens.
I do believe relationships must be built between legislators. I do not believe in quid pro quo. However, legislators must build close enough relationships, within their own party and across the aisle, that other legislators can understand one's passion in a certain area. This gives legislators the ability to find common ground and allows for compromise in working together.

Senator Harold Caskey. His purpose for being there was to always serve the people of his district to the best of his ability. He never lost sight of this.
