Jim Hundstad (b. December 16, 1941) is a former Democratic member of the South Dakota State Senate, representing the 2nd District from 2005 to 2013. Previously he was a member of the South Dakota House of Representatives from 2000 through 2005.

Hundstad served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1968. He then worked as a teacher for Groton School District from 1973 to 1976. He then went on to work for Aberdeen School District from 1977 to 1981. From 1995 to 2003, Hundstad was the owner of Dolly's Doll House. Since 1981 he has worked as owner and farmer on Hundstad Family Farm.

Hundstad earned his B.S. from Northern State University in 1972. He went on to receive his ME in education from Northern State University in 1973.

Hundstad ran for re-election to the 2nd District seat in 2010. He ran unopposed. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.

On Nov. 4, 2008, Hundstad won re-election to the 2nd District Seat in the South Dakota State Senate, defeating opponent Hjalmer Tschetter (R).[1]

Hanson raised $4,830 for his campaign while Tschetter raised $16,141.[2]
