Campaign themes

2016

Langston's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Education

  • Our state constitution is clear. Public education is the PARAMOUNT DUTY of the state. We must always make this the number one priority in our operating budget. As the father of four publicly educated children I see the urgent need to properly fund our schools and faculty. We must be willing to evaluate options, understand the effects and move forward with solutions best suited to solve our historic shortfall.

Transportation

  • All families need a functioning road system, a focus must be made on congestion and its reduction. It is time the state realize cars are what we drive. We must be able to traverse our roads not just sit on them. We should be spending more time with our families and this can happen once all lanes are open and we study congestion, not the trip counts. Solutions taking 20 years to study and build do not solve today's traffic.

Taxation

  • As a business owner with hundreds of employees, our budget drives our financial success. Our hard earned dollars must be used with care and diligence. Tax increases and throwing money at complications should never be our answer. Business minded common sense thinking is what we need to solve our heavy burden spending. We need people willing to do what is right to save our state from spend-and-tax thinking. Government needs to get back on track with their duty to the people and for the people. The state should live within their means just as every family does.[1]
