Jim Nye was a 2011 Democratic candidate for District 24 of the New Jersey General Assembly.

Nye was a candidate for District 24 of the New Jersey General Assembly. He was defeated in the November 8 general election. Nye and Leslie Huhn ran unopposed in the Democratic Primary on June 7. Incumbents Alison McHose and Gary Chiusano ran unopposed in the Republican primary. Rose Ann Salanitri and Mark Quick are also running in the November 8 general election as Independents.[1]

Debates
On July 7, 2011, Democrats Ed Selby, Leslie Huhn and Jim Nye sent a letter to Republican incumbents Alison McHose, Gary Chiusano and Steven Oroho, challenging them to a series of debates to take place before the November 8 general election. Leslie Huhn stated that Republicans have "had it too easy" in recent elections, and that they have taken their constituents for granted for too long.[2]
The Democrats gave Republicans 10 days to respond. The same day (July 7), Lou Crescitelli, spokesman for the District 24 Republicans, confirmed the GOP incumbents will participate in the debates. Since redistricting took place, 11 new county municipalities were added to the district. Ed Selby (D) suggested the need to "expand"[2] because the newly annexed counties might not know the candidates as well. The invitation to debate was not sent to the two Independent candidates in Assembly District 24, Rose Ann Salanitri and Mark Quick.[2]
