Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Pace's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Balance the Budget: You cannot run a successful business or household without a balanced budget. Every family and business in Georgia’s 3rd District understands this as a fact of life. You can't perpetually spend money you don’t have. The politicians in Washington just don’t get it. It is time to make some tough decisions and we must adopt a balanced budget amendment. After decades of out of control spending and exponentially expanding debt, it is clear that the politicians in Washington can’t be trusted.
  • Enact Term Limits, No More Career Politicians: Our founding fathers never saw the rise of a professional political class emerging in our nation. I am proud to support term limits in Congress. Career politicians have created a mess in Washington, and it will take new ideas and outside perspectives to change the status quo. Until we get term limits in place, we should enforce them at the ballot box by voting the career politicians out of office.
  • Defend Our Nation: The world has become a dangerous place with the rise of traditional and nontraditional rivals. Islamic extremists are a very real threat at home and abroad. Iran and North Korea are on the verge of developing nuclear capabilities and the president and Congress are asleep at the wheel. After two terms of Obama’s foreign policy agenda, our allies can’t depend on America’s resolve and our enemies do not fear us. In order to restore America’s leadership role throughout the world and achieve peace through strength, we must rebuild our military.
  • Honor Our Veterans: The men and women of our Armed Forces have sacrificed for their nation, and they deserve the support and care they were promised for their service. The Veterans Administration mismanagement is intolerable, and it is our responsibility to serve our veterans now. We need to eliminate the claims backlog to ensure veterans receive the full benefits they have earned. As a job creator, I want to champion job training and education opportunities for our returning heroes. Finally, we must enforce accountability at the VA. For too long, Washington politicians and bureaucrats have failed our veterans; we need immediate improvement.
  • End the Debt: The crushing national debt is growing by the second. $19 trillion is a total failure on part of our nation’s leaders. But that is nothing compared to the debt the government will be racking up in the years to come. We must act now to rein it in and stop mortgaging the future of our children and grandchildren. Cutting wasteful spending and bureaucratic red tape is A GOOD FIRST STEP, BUT we also must eliminate the billions of dollars in failed government programs and redundant agencies. However, the best way to begin getting the debt under control is to grow the economy without a tax increase.
