Jim Porter (Republican Party) is a member of the Kansas State Board of Education, representing District 9. He assumed office in 2015. His current term ends on January 12, 2027.
Porter (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the Kansas State Board of Education to represent District 9. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Biography
Porter's background in public education includes time spent as a music teacher, where he taught students from kindergarten to the high school level. Porter also served as a principal and, later, a district superintendent. Porter has also taught adjunct education at the undergraduate and graduate levels.[1]
Political career
Kansas State Board of Education (2015-present)
Porter was first elected to the board in the 2014 elections, where he ran unopposed for the seat that had been occupied by board Chairman Jana Shaver. On January 10, 2017, Porter was elected to a two-year term as chairman of the board.[2]
