Jim Rice Jr. was a candidate for the District 3 seat on the Tulsa City Council in Oklahoma. He was defeated in the primary election on June 28, 2016. Rice announced his withdrawal from the race prior to the primary election, but the withdrawal took place after the deadline for removal from the ballot.[1]

The mayor and nine seats on the Tulsa City Council were up for election in 2016. The filing deadline was April 13, 2016, and there was a primary election on June 28, 2016. A candidate was able to win a seat outright in the primary by winning 50 percent or more of the vote. A general election was held on November 8, 2016, for races with two candidates or races where no candidates received 50 percent of the primary vote. Incumbent David Patrick defeated Araceli Tiger and Jim Rice Jr. in the Tulsa City Council District 3 primary election.[2]
