Wood's professional experience includes working as a CPR driver at the Mason County EMS, surveyor's assistant for Masuda Construction, employee for Madison Coal & Supply, and as an inside wireman.

- I support special needs programs for children and their parents.
- I will fight for more funding for the State Troopers.
- I would like to bring in after school programs for kids.
- I want to bring in new good paying jobs to this area.

Wood ran in the 2012 election for West Virginia House of Delegates, District 14. Wood defeated Kermit E. Beaver, Jr. and Samantha Fooce in the May 8 primary election. He was defeated by Jim Butler in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3][4]
