Campaign themes

2016

Lindblom's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Grow our Economy and Create High-Paying Jobs:

  • As a state senator, I will do whatever I can to create a favorable regulatory and tax environment. I will do whatever I can to improve our education system so it provides businesses with the workers they need. I will work to build and maintain quality infrastructure--the transportation, power, water, etc., that are critical to supporting active commerce and a growing population. We must be competitive in all these areas to grow our economy and bring high paying jobs.

Lower Taxes and Less Government:

  • I believe in a discipline of continuous improvement. We should constantly question what our government is doing, and find better ways of doing things. The tendency over time is for government to grow in size and scope, and to reach deeper into our lives. As a basic economic philosophy, I believe individual people in a free market will make choices with their money that creates more overall prosperity than if we gave more money to government. We need some government, but we need to keep it in its place! I will always look for ways to streamline and reduce.

Prioritizing Education:

  • Being near the bottom is unacceptable, and our place at the back of the pack is a direct result of the lack of leadership within the legislature. I have been afforded wonderful opportunities as a direct result of the education I received in my early years. I will not forget the value of this education, ever. This is one area where we get a clear public return on wisely invested education spending. As a state senator, I will prioritize education funding, and work to ensure that what we do spend turns into academic achievement for our children.

Illegal Immigration and Public Safety:

  • The federal government is responsible for our border and dealing with illegal immigration, and I will support our congressional representatives any way I can in their efforts. At the state level we should focus on the elements of illegal immigration that affect public safety, like combating drug cartels and the organized crime organizations that have used illegal immigrants in their operations. We can also work against identity theft associated with illegal immigration. I will support common-sense laws to improve our safety.

Promote Arizona:

  • Our state is beautiful and diverse. We should promote it as a great place to live, work, and raise families. I will do that as a senator.[5]
