Career
Gray is the daughter of John and Betty Gray, Oregon philanthropists who donated to organizations and causes related to "early childhood, geography and environmental education." After John and Betty passed away, their children started the Gray Family Foundation as a way to "support John and Betty Gray’s faith in the human spirit through giving back to the systems that nurture all of us – our culture, our natural environment and our communities."[1][2]
She attended the University of Oregon, graduating in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture.[3]

Gray was one of the top contributors in support of Oregon Outdoor School Lottery Fund, Measure 99 in 2016. The outdoor school initiative was designed to designate about $22 million in state lottery funds for outdoor education for all fifth and sixth graders in Oregon.[4]
