Irion began her legal career working as a private practice civil litigator. She became a shareholder and then managing shareholder of the law firm Heller, Ehrman, White and McAuliffe. She was appointed to the San Diego County Superior Court in 2000 and served there until her nomination to the California Fourth District Court of Appeal.[1][2][3]
