|I’ve been a civil trial lawyer for 30 years. I spent the first half of my career in private practice and was a partner at a national law firm. For the last 17 years, I’ve been with the California Department of Justice, where I currently serve as Senior Assistant Attorney General supervising the Tort and Condemnation Section statewide. I have tried cases in state and federal court, and I have addressed complex areas of law throughout my career. I am President of California Women Lawyers and Co-President of San Diego's Tom Homann LGBTQ+ Law Association. I’ve also previously served on the boards of the San Diego County Bar Association and Lawyers Club of San Diego. I’m a founding member of the San Diego Unity Bar, an organization of our local diverse bar associations. I also have a long history of volunteering to help the most vulnerable in our community – working to help incarcerated women, incarcerated teens, and homeless women.
I am endorsed by San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria, State Sen. Toni Atkins, and many others.- I will bring my years of experience as a trial attorney and as an active member of the San Diego legal community to the job of being a judge. Even more importantly, I will work to make sure our courts work for our community – providing fairness, compassion, common sense, and access to justice for all.
- I am committed to making fair and thoughtful decisions based on the facts and the law, and to making sure that all those who come to court feel heard, understood, and respected.
- I will work to improve equal access to justice and equal justice. I am active in the San Diego County Bar Association’s Bench-Bar Committee, working with our local judges on issues relating to access to justice. As a judge, I will seek to serve on judicial committees and work with organizations aimed at improving access to justice, whether by advocating for increased funding for legal aid services, encouraging greater pro bono representation, establishing outreach programs, ensuring access to court reporters, or providing more self-help tools for litigants.
