Jodie is the proud father of three daughters and one son.- Economic disparity and low educational outcomes are key ingredients for the rising crime in many of our communities.
The affordability crisis continues to darken the hope of achieving the American dream for everyday, hardworking Americans. As the wealth gap continues to widen, Alabama consistently ranks among the top states for violent crime rate.
Youth and adult learning models must be linked to changing demands in the job market. Public schools must be resourced without disadvantaging private schools. Sensible gun laws—which honor every law-abiding citizen’s Second Amendment rights—must place law enforcement and community safety first.
I am experienced at serving whole community, and will continue that approach if elected. - Having to drive an hour for trauma and emergency care can mean life or death for residents in many pockets of America. Sadly, there are residents in District 21 that have experienced this first-hand. Since 2011, seven rural hospitals have closed their doors-including the Pickens County Medical Center. According to the Alabama Hospital Association, 52 more rural hospitals are at risk of closing. I believe that citizens in every zip code deserves access to emergency care. Difficult challenges require authentic, visionary leadership. As your State Senator, I will lead the charge in the Alabama Legislature and co-partner with the advocates who feel responsible and obligated to produce realistic solutions to the rural health crisis.
- No one understands a Veteran like a fellow Veteran. From care access to navigating the claims process, I know the battle and will fight to clear roadblocks so that my fellow Veterans receive the benefits that they have earned. My fellow Veterans have sacrifice and obligated our lives to support and defend the freedoms that we all enjoy. Veterans deserve first class care and support! I will represent my follow Veterans in Montgomery and will carry the solemn duty ingrained in the Solder’s Creed- to leave “No Soldier Left Behind!”
