Jody Richards
Jody Richards (b. February 20, 1938) is a former Democratic member of the Kentucky House of Representatives, representing District 20 from 1977 to 2018. Richards served as speaker pro tempore from 2014 to 2016. He served as speaker from 1995 to 1998 and from 2006 to 2008. He ran for governor of Kentucky in 2003 and 2007.
Biography
When he served in the state House, Richards' professional experience included working as owner of Superior Books and as a teacher at Western Kentucky University. He served in the United States Army Reserve.

2014
Elections for the Kentucky House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 20, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was January 28, 2014. Incumbent Jody Richards ran unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Jenean M. Hampton ran unopposed in the Republican primary. Richards defeated Hampton in the general election.[5][6][7]
2012
Richards won re-election in the 2012 election for Kentucky House of Representatives District 20. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on May 22, 2012, and defeated Regina Webb (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[8][9]
2010
Richards won re-election to the 20th District Seat on November 2, 2010. She was unopposed and received 8,580 votes.
Richards ran unopposed in the May 18 Democratic primary election.[10]
2008
On November 4, 2008, Richards was re-elected to the 20th District Seat in the Kentucky House of Representatives with no opposition.[11] He raised $96,404 for his campaign.[12]

When he served in the state House, Richards and his wife, Neva, had one child.[13] He is a member of Greenwood Park Church of Christ, Bowling Green/Warren County Chamber of Commerce, Kentucky Jaycees, and the Southern Legislative Conference.[14]
