NEW CASTLE, Delaware: Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden, was called for jury duty in his home state of Delaware on January 24. He appeared at the New Castle County Superior Court along with other potential jurors and his security detail. He and the other prospective jurors were dismissed shortly after noon on the 24th. Had a jury been convened, it most likely would have heard a misdemeanor case.
Biden said of the duty, "I don't consider myself different than any other person. This is important ... It is an honor to be a part of the system."[1]
Biden is not the first high profile person called for jury duty in recent days. Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan was called in mid-January, as was Attorney General Eric Holder.[2]
