Joe Bolkcom (Democratic Party) was a member of the Iowa State Senate, representing District 43. He assumed office on January 2, 2003. He left office on January 2, 2023.

Bolkcom (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Iowa State Senate to represent District 43. He won in the general election on November 6, 2018.

Bolkcom served as Senate majority whip from 2013 to 2017.

Bolkcom earned his B.A. from Saint Ambrose University in 1983 and his M.P.A. from the University of Iowa in 1988. His professional experience includes working as Director of Senior Education, Incorporated, and Senior Advocates, Incorporated and with the Johnson County Health Department from 1988 to 1992.

On November 7, 2006, Bolkcom was re-elected to the 39th District Seat in the Iowa State Senate, defeating Jay Christensen-Szalanski (R).[6] Bolkcom raised $60,912 for his campaign, while Christensen-Szalanski raised $13,615.[7]
