Joe Bowen (b. April 22, 1950) is a former Republican member of the Kentucky State Senate, representing District 8 from 2010 to 2018. Bowen served in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 2005-2006.

Bowen did not seek re-election to the Kentucky State Senate in 2018.

Biography

Bowen earned his B.S. from the University of Kentucky in 1972. When he served in the state Senate, his professional experience included working as a partner of Bowen Tire company, a family owned business started in 1949.

The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was January 28, 2014. Incumbent Joe Bowen ran unopposed in the Republican primary and was unchallenged in the general election.[1][2][3]

Bowen defeated Democratic incumbent David Boswell by a margin of 18,073 to 16,904 in the November 2 general election.[4]

When he served in the state House, Bowen and his wife, Vicki, had two children. Bowen had served as chair of multiple boards, including the Owensboro YMCA Board, the Kentucky State Parks Foundation Board and Daviess County Hospital Board.
