Joe Brown (Tennessee federal judge)
Joe B. Brown was a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. He was first appointed to this position in 1998 and he left active duty in 2006.[1]
Education
Judge Brown graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1962. He then earned a law degree from the Vanderbilt University Law School in 1965.[1]
Career
After graduation, Brown served six years active duty in the U.S. Army. During this time, he worked as a legal assistance officer and trial and defense counsel. He was also the Chief of Military Justice at Fort Gordon, Georgia, and a Military Judge at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He then worked as an Assistant and First Assistant U.S. Attorney in Nashville from 1971 until 1981. For the next 10 years, he worked as a U.S. Attorney of the Middle District of Tennessee. In 1991, he was appointed "Special Assistant U.S. Trustee" and "National Coordinator for Bankruptcy Fraud" for the U.S. Trustee Program of the Department of Justice. He was appointed magistrate judge in 1998.[1]
