Joe Buchman
Joseph Geddes Buchman (independent) ran in a special election to the U.S. House to represent Utah's 2nd Congressional District. Buchman lost in the special general election on November 21, 2023.
Buchman was a Libertarian candidate in the 2017 special election to represent Utah's 3rd Congressional District. Buchman was also a 2016 Libertarian candidate for District 14 of the Utah State Senate.
Biography
Joe Buchman earned a B.S. in marketing from Indiana University in 1980, an M.B.A. from Purdue University in 1983, and a Ph.D. from Indiana University in 1989. Buchman's career experience includes working as a marketing professor with Utah Valley State College (now Utah Valley University). He has served as the chair of the Libertarian Party of Utah.[1]

The candidate filing deadline was March 17, 2016. Incumbent Alvin B. Jackson (R) did not seek re-election. Daniel Hemmert was appointed to the seat to fill Jackson's remaining term.
