|- Rural Economic Development Utah has one of fastest growing economies in the US and Utah should not leave our rural cities, towns, and counties behind. It is imperative to have a voice for rural Utah in the legislature, a voice to promote and develop the tremendous workforce within HD 67 boundaries, The workers who deserve the opportunity to make a living wage, more local control over tax dollars to drive our economy and infrastructure. I support our working families, local governments, and businesses
- Education Policies that attract the best and brightest teachers…. I don’t see the direction of our “Policies” helping to attract the best and brightest, vouchers, book banning, WPU. I contend that Utah needs to develop policies that retain the best and brightest teachers that we have. Increase teacher pay to ensure it’s a livable wage to sustain a family. I will support issues and policies that expand education funding that benefit rural Utah to ensure our students receive the best educational opportunity possible and fight to ensure the folks we trust to educate our children.
- Energy and Environment Investment in cleaner energy and water infrastructure in southeastern Utah is vital in the changing environment. Fossil fuels and renewable energy should not be a for or against proposition but intertwined with science, research and initiatives to promote opportunities for the future. The inevitable transition that is on the horizon, is just that on the horizon. I do not support the loss of an energy related job without the opportunity for the displaced worker to obtain a good paying job or our training to transition to another career field.
I support the opportunity for rural Utah families to have access to affordable healthcare, to be safe from domestic violence, for women to make their own decisions for their healthcare, support efforts and programs for increased mental health, substance use local programs to offer a healthy and safer environment for all rural Utah. My 23 years as a law enforcement officer and 13 years as a registered nurse gives me a unique insight to the social issues facing rural Utah.
