Joe Gimse
Joe Gimse (b. July 31, 1957) is a former Republican member of the Minnesota State Senate, representing District 13 from 2007 to 2013. He also served as the Assistant Minority Leader.
Gimse graduated with his Associate's in Applied Sciences from Willimar Tech in 1987. Gimse is a small business owner in addition to being a Senator.

Gimse ran in the 17th District in 2012 due to redistricting. He ran unopposed in the August 14 primary and was defeated by Lyle Koenen in the November 6 general election.[2][3]

Gimse won re-election to the 13th District seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition. Larry Rice ran for the seat on the DFL ticket. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.

Taxpayers League of Minnesota
The Taxpayers League of Minnesota, a Minnesota-based taxpayer advocacy organization, releases a legislative scorecard for the Minnesota House of Representatives and Minnesota State Senate once a year. The scorecard gives each legislator a score based on how they voted in the prior legislative term on tax issues and “their efforts to balance the state budget without a tax increase.” The organization also compiles a legislator’s individual "Lifetime Score."[5]
