Candidate Connection

Joe Helle participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on April 4, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Joe Helle's responses follow below.[1]

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

1) Protect and Fund Lake Erie

2) Equitably Fund and Secure Our Schools
3) Fight for Jobs and Economic Development[2][3]

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?

Veteran's Affairs - As a Veteran, I feel that our community is greatly under-represented in government, and we need help. Local Government - As a Mayor I have seen first hand the needs of local governments, and the failures of our state government to provide resources necessary for our success and survival. - Education - As a father I see the struggles that my daughter's school district faces with a lack of equitable funding. I also see a challenge with school safety, as is evident by the many school shootings in the last several years. Higher education needs to be made affordable again, and a higher emphasis placed on the trades professions.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[3]
