Campaign themes

2015

Job Creation

With slow job growth and a high cost of living, we need to diversify our economy and create more high-paying jobs to help northern Virginia families make ends meet. In the Senate, I’ll work with local business leaders to reduce burdensome regulations and work to attract new businesses and more jobs to our community.

Transportation

Traffic congestion keeps getting worse, and it’s affecting our quality of life and the time we can spend with our families. Richmond politicians talk and talk about transportation, but nothing ever changes. I’ll fight to make real reforms to our transportation funding to make sure we start getting our fair share and to ensure that we make better use of our funding and make our lives better.

Education

As a father of two young children, a toddler and one whom attends public school, I know first hand that our education system needs help. When our public schools are so challenged they aren’t an option for many families in northern Virginia, it hurts everyone. We need to improve our schools to ensure our children have the resources they need to succeed.

Taxes

Our taxes are too high and too complicated. It’s hurting our families and it’s driving jobs out of our state. We need to simplify our tax code and lower tax rates to unleash more economic growth and reduce the burden on hard working families.

Health Care

The Affordable Care Act did not solve the problems that many Virginians face with health care affordability and access. For many families, it made things worse. As a father of a special needs child, I understand the importance of what reliable and affordable health care means to all families. There are more efficient and transparent ways to reform our health care system, and I will work tirelessly every day in the Senate to ensure that every Virginian can obtain the health care services they need and deserve without increasing the heavy-handed role of the Richmond or federal government bureaucracy.
