Campaign themes

2016

Russell's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Drug prevention: Joe Russell seeks to address the drug epidemic through prevention and rehabilitation. The drug epidemic is the most frightening problem that faces Ohio today. There needs to be more done to squelch the tide of addiction hitting our state. This problem can only be solved through real leadership that gets real results.

Create jobs: Joe Russell seeks to support small business’s ability to be competitive and grow. Through supporting policies that cut through red tape, create fair taxes, and support the development of a real world workforce, Ohio’s businesses can grow and hire new employees. The more highly skilled our workforce, the more highly competitive Ohio businesses can become.

Improve education: Joe Russell seeks to enrich learning opportunities in Ohio so that every student can prepare for the real world. We need to bolster our efforts to support individualized educational achievement, whether that be through the public, private, or home school systems.

Promote farming: Joe Russell seeks to promote Ohio’s agriculture industry both domestically and internationally. Agriculture is the backbone of Ohio’s economy, so it makes sense to ensure consistent funding, support, and efficiency for this important industry. We need farmers to remain key partners on issues such as economic development, air quality, water quality, energy and utility infrastructure, and others.

Safety & Security: Joe Russell seeks to expand the safety and security of our communities through supporting the needs of law enforcement and first responders. Police officers and firefighters have dedicated their lives to serving the public good. Ohio should be dedicated to ensuring these brave Ohioans have the resources and protection they need to keep us safe.[2]
