Schanno was defeated by Mike McDermott and Marty Pusey in the September 14 Republican primary. McDermott and Norman Conway (D) defeated Pusey and Gee Williams (D) in the November 2 general election.
- Note: Incumbent James Mathias, Jr. (D) did not seek re-election but instead ran for the District 38 senate seat.[1]
