I am a long-time community activist, advocating for democracy, campaign finance reform, environmental protection, and equal rights. I am dedicated to standing against the political influence of billionaire corporations and the ultra-wealthy, ensuring that the voices of average Americans are heard.

I embrace my role as a father, husband, and grandfather with the same passion I bring to my community work. My legacy as the child of Holocaust survivors instilled in me a profound dedication to justice and human rights. Having called Saratoga County home for almost 40 years, I am firmly rooted in the community I serve. Now retired, I am applying the problem-solving skills I gained in a 30+ year civil service career as an application software developer to serving my community and driving change.

My activism roots back to the 1970s environmental movement. I have been an active member of several key organizations committed to social justice, peace, and democracy including Citizen Action of NY, the Alliance for Democracy, the Interfaith Alliance of NY, the Saratoga Peace Alliance, Occupy Albany, MoveOn.org, the Working Families Party, including serving as lead organizer for local Indivisible group Saratoga-Warren-Washington Progressive Action. I have also been an active volunteer with the Milton Democrats, Milton Citizens for Responsible Development, and have supported numerous election campaigns for Working Families and Democratic candidates at all levels of government.
  • I am running to fight for our communities, not ultra-wealthy special interests, challenging a Saratoga County GOP machine politician, a Stefanik-Trump ally who is silent while those who assaulted Capitol Police and our very Democracy are hailed as 'hostages'.
  • NY has the 3rd largest economy of any state, and the 10th largest economy in the world. We can and must be the leader in the Clean Energy Economy of the future. This will create good paying jobs that can’t be outsourced, and lead the efforts to address the Climate Crisis that threatens havoc on our children’s futures.
  • We can have Healthcare for All, end welfare for insurance companies, and save money for 98% of NYers. We can roll back the “trickle down” tax give-aways to the ultra-wealthy and corporations of the last few decades, close corporate loopholes, and ensure the ultra-wealthy pay their fair share so the rest of us aren’t overtaxed. We can provide the services needed by children, families, seniors and people with special needs, if we have fair taxation. But this requires political will. The NY State Assembly needs someone from this district fighting for average people, being a voice in the budget and major legislation, not just sitting around collecting a paycheck, and ignoring the citizens.
Fair Taxation with corporations and billionaires paying their share, and the rest of us not overtaxed. Healthcare for All, ending welfare for insurance companies and saving Nyers lives and money. Making NY the leader in the Clean Energy Economy of the future, creating good paying jobs that can’t be outsourced, and addressing the Climate Crisis. Protecting Reproductive Rights, and passing the Equal Rights Amendment.
I look up to, and hope to follow the example of elected officials whom I have volunteered for, including Bernie Sanders, Kirsten Gillibrand and Paul Tonko. They are listening to and representing the people, not special interests, and support policies based on science, facts, and compassion.
Commitment to the principles of Truth, Democracy, Decency, and fairness. One would think this needn’t be said, but my opponent and her party supports a leader who lied over 30,000 times in office and lies incessantly, who tried to overturn the election he lost and hold onto power like a dictator, who was found by a court to be a sexual predator, and who spews vicious hate, racism and sexism daily.
My commitment to democracy, truth, decency and justice. My ability to fight like hell. My commitment to listening to average NYers, not corporate lobbyists.
Listen to the people. Hold townhalls and mobile office hours (my opponent has done of this in 4 terms). Reject money from corrupting special interests (I have pledged to do so, my opponent has not). Fight like hell for citizens, not just collect a paycheck and do nothing.
A legacy of having fought for the people, and having stood up to corrupt special interests and politicians who find authoritarianism, lying, and hate acceptable.
First job after leaving college, which lasted a few months. was for the National Women’s Political Caucus working to pass the ERA. I can’t believe it has not passed, decades later.
Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse Five – a deeply personal story about the atrocities of war
“So What” – Miles Davis quintet
Balancing responsibilities as a father, husband and grandfather, being a community activist and organizer, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle of daily exercise and a plant based diet.
An equal relationship. The governor has too much power in the budget process and this must be changed.
Reverse population drain, by making NY a place people want to move to. Becoming a leader in the Clean energy economy, providing universal healthcare, and fair taxation will best address this.
If previous experience is as a politics-as-usual legislator who collects a paycheck, passes no legislation of substance, and has no voice in the budget, that “experience” is not as valuable as a fresh uncorrupted voice.
Yes, and as a long-time community organizer and activist, who frequently joins citizen lobby days, I already have a relationship with a number of Assembly majority members, whom I will work with, and hit the ground running when elected.
Richard Gottfried, recently retired, was an exemplary legislator representing average NYers not special interests.
At the age of 64, I’m not planning a long political career. I support term limits and don’t plan to stick around for decades.
I heard the story of a young Saratoga county man who missed an insurance premium payment, was unable to get needed medication, and died tragically. His story, which his family is dedicated to telling, reminds us that we need Healthcare for All, not welfare for insurance companies.
A conman, sexual predator, pathological liar, narcissist, fascist and criminal defendant walk into a bar. Bartender says “What are having Donald?”
Yes, and we need to find a balance that allows the executive to take necessary emergency action, while allowing for legislative oversight.
I would co-sponsor, if not yet passed, the Climate Superfund, the NY Health Act, and the fair taxation bills of the Invest in our New York campaign.
So far: Saratoga, Schenectady & Fulton County Democratic Committee, Democratic committees of the towns of Clifton Park, Halfmoon, Milton and Scotia-Glenville, the Working Families Party, Capital Women, Mom's Demand Action. Many other endorsements are being applied for and expected.
Environmental Conservation, Health, Energy, Corporations, Authorities and Commissions, Children and Families, Election Law, Labor
President Biden’s 2024 State of the Union address.
The ballot initiative would be good as long as we ensure it is not dominated by special interests, and that there are stringent limits on spending and public campaign financing.

I'm a longtime organizer and activist, playing a leading Upstate NY role in the movement for Democracy, Getting Money Out of Politics, protecting the Environment, defending Equal Rights for All, and taking back our government from the undemocratic domination by Corporate interests.

I'm a father, husband, and grandfather; retired from a 30+ year union-member civil service career as an application software developer. For decades, I've been actively involved with grassroots groups like Citizen Action of NY, the Alliance for Democracy, Interfaith Alliance of NY, Saratoga Peace Alliance, Occupy Albany & MoveOn.org. I've served as a State Committee member of the Working Families Party and a leading organizer with the local Indivisible group Saratoga Progressive Action. I've volunteered in numerous election campaigns, from Kirsten Gillibrand, to Barack Obama, to Tedra Cobb to Milton supervisor & council. My focus has been to point out the root of our political problems, which is the corruption of Big Money in politics. I've received awards from the Solidarity Committee of the Capital District, Interfaith Alliance of NY, Citizen Action of NY and the Working Families Party.

I'm running for NY Assembly to represent the interests of the 99%, not the richest 1%.
  • Public Health protection for all putting our health and our communities before insurance company profits. Save lives and save money, Stop paying welfare to Insurance Companies.
  • Move to 100% Home Grown Clean Renewable Energy, with good paying jobs that can't be outsourced. Keep our energy money here in our communities.
  • Lower taxes for working and middle class New Yorkers by making the ultra- wealthy pay their share.
Bringing us up to what most developed nations have - Public Healthcare protection for all, instead of scandalous corporate welfare for Insurance companies. NY can lead the way for America, and save money for 98% of us.

Comprehensively reforming Campaign Finance laws that facilitate legalized bribery. Dramatically lowering the absurd amounts of money the billionaire class can use to buy electoral power, and empowering small donors and voters.

A Green New Deal. Create a new NY public authority to issue bonds (at historical low interest), just like FDR's Work Progress Administration, to hire the unemployed. Put people to work installing solar & other clean energy sources on residential homes, offices and businesses, and have the residents and businesses purchase the the equipment just like we pay our electric bill. Science tells us that we must take bold Climate Action to prevent serious devastation, and we can at the same time build the foundation of the Upstate NY economy, keeping our energy money here in our communities, creating good paying jobs that can't be oursourced.

Making sure the ultra-wealthy pay their fair share of taxes, closing every corporate loophole and reversing giveaways to the rich. Let's tax corporate lobbying and large political "contributions".

This is how we lower taxes and burdens on Working Class New Yorkers.
Most important quality of any elected is loyalty to all the constituents with no greater loyalty to any special interest such as the richest 1%, or billionaire corporate interests such as insurance companies, oil companies and banks.

Another critical component is being committed to science, research and fact based policies on every issue. This almost seems ridiculous to have to say, but unfortunately, there are politicians whose obeisance to corporate profits causes them to deny the validity of science itself.

These characteristics should be accompanied by a track record of having worked hard to fight for the interests of the 99% that can't afford to buy political power.
Hard worker.

Dedicated to justice and democracy.
Experienced as an organizational leader and community organizer.
Having the ability to lead teams, campaigns and projects.

Have a deep understanding of the polcies and an ability to pay attention to detail regarding issues such as health care, environment, economy and taxation.
When I was less than 4 years old, President Kennedy was assassinated. I recall my family watching a small black & white TV in our living room, and this seemed to be all that people talked about for some time.
"Night in Tunisia" by Dizzy Gillespie.
In NY each Assembly member represents a smaller number of constituents than Senators. This allows the Assembly member to have a closer and more hands on relationship with the constituents, and more easily hear constituents' concerns.
Experience in representing the interests of the people is what counts, whether in direct government service, or in grassroots advocacy.
Experience serving a political machine, special interests and their high-priced lobbyists is the wrong type of experience.
Making NY a leader in America's move to a clean energy economy insuring a stable sustainable middle class job base.

Providing heath care for all including preparing for health emergencies, and insuring that the health of the people outweighs the profits of the insurance companies.
Ending the corruption that Albany is infamous for, stopping legalized bribery, and empowering voters and small donors, not the ultra wealthy donor class.
Closing every corporate loophole and reversing every corrupt tax giveaway to Wall street and the Ultra wealthy.
Cutting the tax burden on working and middle class New Yorkers.
Reducing mass incarceration, keeping communities intact, and cutting taxes by reducing prison costs.

Putting all these polices together to build a future Upstate NY that our children will want to plant their roots in and people will be moving to, not moving away from.
The Governor and the Legislature should be equal partners. Neither should have close exclusive relationships with Wall Street, corporate lobbyists or ultra wealthy. Both should have close relationships with constituents, listening to their concerns.
Absolutely! As a long time organizer and member of teams of people, I understand the value of collaboration and cooperation. As a longtime organizer with citizens advocacy groups, I already have developed relationships with many legislators, with whom I have worked together on many issues.
Energy Committee

Election Law Committee
Health Committee

Economic Development, Job Creation, Commerce and Industry
I would be open to a leadership position that would allow me to build a stronger Working Families Democratic Caucus.
The late Assemblymember and Judge Frank Barbaro. I was proud to know and work with Frank, who was a lifelong fighter for the interests of working class New Yorkers.
There was a tragic case of a young man in Saratoga County who died after he missed a health insurance payment and was unable to buy his medication.
No one should die for lack of money or health insurance.
