I’m a lifelong Hoosier born in Hammond Indiana. I served in the Army out of High School, 1st Infantry Division. I then obtained a B.A. in Art from Calumet College of Saint Joseph. In 1995 I joined the Indiana State Police. I retired from the Peru Post in 2020 as a Master Trooper after 25 years. I went back in the service joining the Air Guard at Terre Haute in 1998. On 9/11 I was activated for two years and deployed to Kuwait for the war against Iraq in 2002/2003. Upon my return home I transferred to the Air Force Reserves at Grissom ARB in Bunker Hill. I then cross trained to be an In-Flight Refueler “boom operator”. I flew. Missions all over the world until I retired as a Master Sergeant in 2014 after 21 years. I deployed to the dessert 3 times participating in Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and Unified Protector over Libya. While being a state trooper I worked undercover with the FBI on a Police and Political Corruption Task Force in the NW Indiana Area. I was on the protection details of President Clinton when he came to Michigan City and President Obama when he came to Kokomo. After Hurricane Katrina I was deployed to Biloxi Mississippi with about 60 other Troopers to help provide security. I’m a member of the American Legion and VFW.
  • Service Before Self. It is a core value of the Air Force and a way of Life I have lived by. I have proudly fought for our freedoms and I will continue to do so as your Representative. I believe in Liberty and Justice for ALL Hoosiers, not just the rich and powerful.
  • I’m a proud defender of our Democracy. I realise that Democracy is under attack on a state and federal level by far right extremists. They pride themselves in taking rights away, when I will fight tirelessly to protect our rights. I swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and of the State of Indiana from ALL enemies foreign AND domestic. I have, and always will be proud of being a Hoosier.
  • I will always protect a woman’s right to choose her own health care. I am not God and I am not a doctor. I will always fight for a person’s right to love and marry who they choose. I will continue the fight for civil rights. Great men and women sacrificed their lives to gain those freedoms and we are not going back.
I am a proud supporter of the 2nd Amendment but I am also a proud supporter of ALL the Amendments. I realise the need for more responsible gun ownership and legislation. We can’t just keep our heads buried in the sand as our children keep getting slaughtered. Nobody said anything about coming after your guns. I’m also passionate about better Mental Health programs and Recovery from addiction. I’m all about fighting for a lower gas tax, bringing down the costs of groceries but at the same time supporting our farmers, and affordable housing and better wages.
Mr Smith goes to Washington and The President. I also love the series The West Wing. I have the box set.
Integrity First. Integrity is honesty in action. To me that means doing this job for the right reasons. It means not using the state house as a means to boost my ego and/or my bank account. It means being a servant to ALL the people of this state. Integrity means respecting the beliefs of all Hoosiers even if they are different from mine. It is not my job to legislate my beliefs or religious morality from the podium.
To serve the people of this great state. To remember that you work for them. They are your boss, not the other way around. It is important to remember that it is the PEOPLE’S House and to have immense respect for it. I would try my hardest to make people smile, to feel good about themselves and to make people proud of being Hoosiers.
I remember when Bobby Kennedy was shot and killed. I was 9 years old. It was such a sad thing because of JFK being killed in 1963. I just remember everyone crying. I also remember When Neil Armstrong stepped foot on the moon. It was a huge deal. We got to stay up with the adults and watch it on our black and white tv. We had family over and the house was dark and I was sitting on the floor in front of the tv. The glow from the tv lit up the living room.
“The Wheels on the Bus” from the Miss Rachel show. I have a grandson that is almost two and he loves that song. I sing it for him and we go through the motions together. It’s a lot of fun.
I think it is essential to work together across the aisle in a bipartisan fashion in order to better serve the people of this great state. The needs of the people should come before partisan politics.
On the federal level it would be Bobby Kennedy or John Lewis. On the state level I would say John Gregg.
A horse walks into a bar and the bartender says, “why the long face”!!!
Something is inherently wrong if you need a million dollars to get hired for a job that pays 30,000.

I am a moderate Democrat that is a retired Master Sergeant from the US Air Force and a retired Master Trooper with the Indiana State Police. I am a member of the American Legion and the VFW. I am a Board Member of the Wabash County Animal Shelter. I love animals. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, an Associate's Degree in Aviation Operations, and an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice. I also worked under cover with the FBI on Police and Political corruption.I was working on a Master's in Art but did not finish because of a move.
  • I am a staunch supporter of Pro Choice. I believe a woman has a right to choose her own health care. I am not a doctor and I am not a woman so I believe government should NOT be making that decision for them.

  • I am a staunch supporter of LGBTQ+ rights. I believe in same sex marriage and that we should be supporting and protecting our trans kids in school.
  • I am for common sense gun legislation. You should not be able to buy a gun until 21 years old. Ban assault style weapons and high capacity magazines. No teachers carrying guns.
I believe that government should stay out of reproductive rights. That should be a woman's right to make herself. I don't think abortion should be a criminal offense. No rape or incest victim should have to sign a criminal affidavit. I also feel strongly about decriminalization of Marijuana. I believe it should be legal. It has a lot of medical benefits. The state can regulate it making it safer and tax money can be used for recovery programs. I also believe in serious talk about some kind of police reforms. I believe social workers should be involved in policing. Somewhere along the line we went from being "peace" officers to "police" officers. I am very passionate about helping the poor. I believe in trickle up economics. The poor seem to always be left behind.
I have a strong sense of honor and integrity. I held a TS clearance with the DOD and with the DOJ.
The shooting of Bobby Kennedy. He was a political hero of mine. He was a staunch supporter of the poor and marginalized. He was also a big supporter of organized labor and marched in picket lines. I was 9 years old at the time.
