Joe Thompson is a Democrat and judge of the partisan Choctaw County District Court in Alabama. He was appointed to the court by Gov. Bob Riley (R) on November 21, 2008, and won election to a full term in 2010. Thompson won re-election in the general election on November 8, 2016.[1]
Biography
Thompson received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama in 2000 and his J.D. from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 2004. After graduating from law school in 2004, Thompson became the Chief Assistant District Attorney in the Alabama's First Judicial Circuit in 2005, and served in that position until his appointment to the court in 2008.[1]

Alabama held general elections for local judicial offices in 2016. A primary election took place on March 1, 2016, with a primary runoff on April 12, 2016. The general election was held on November 8, 2016.
Incumbent Joe Thompson ran unopposed in the general election for the Choctaw County District Court.[2]
