Campaign themes
2014
Tinio's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]
Education
- Excerpt: "We must change the system of fund allocation amongst the schools in Nevada called "The Nevada Plan." This antiquated system has been in use since 1967! Residents of Clark County have generated the most tax revenue and has been subsidizing the rest of the state. In 2012, it was reported that Clark County received $5,068.00 per student; whereas, another county received $17,508.00 per pupil. There is no equality here!"
Jobs
- Excerpt: "With a well educated workforce, we can attract more businesses to Nevada. We already have the infrastructure. Until our young can progress through the outstanding education system we envision, we must provide some immediate systems to educate our existing work force. Obviously, the systems we currently have is not enough. We must prepare our work force to fill those jobs that can become available for industries we want to attract. This will involve coordination amongst the different agencies already existing."
Health Care
- Excerpt: "I have been actively involved in various Interim Legislative Committee Meetings, Commissions and others (including the Southern Nevada Delegation Subcommittee on Healthcare) that involve health care issues in the state and in Clark County. I have also attended the recently instituted “Governor’s Behavioral Health and Wellness Council. EWe need someone who can ask the right questions of the presenting "expert witnesses." Mental Health, Senior and Alzheimer’s care are the major issues in Health Care!"
