Joel Ferry is the Utah Director of Natural Resources. He assumed office on July 5, 2022. His current term ends on January 4, 2027.
Ferry (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the Utah House of Representatives to represent District 1. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Ferry represented the Utah House of Representatives District 1 from 2019 to 2022. He resigned on August 26, 2022, after the Utah Senate Confirmation Committee recommended his confirmation as Utah Director of Natural Resources.[1]
Gov. Spencer Cox (R) appointed Ferry as the acting Utah Director of Natural Resources to replace former Director Brian Steed (nonpartisan). He assumed office on July 5, 2022 as acting director. On September 21, 2022, Ferry was confirmed by the Utah Senate.
Biography
Joel Ferry earned a bachelor's degree from Utah State University. His career experience includes working in the banking industry.[2]

Note: Joel Ferry (R) resigned from the Utah House of Representatives in August 2022 but remained on the general election ballot. Thomas Peterson (R) was appointed to replace Ferry in the state House in September 2022.[3]
