My name is Joel Levi, and I was born and raised in central Indiana. I’m a passionate advocate for strong schools, safe communities, and healthy families. I’m running for Indiana House District 37 to fully fund public schools, promote background checks on private gun sales, protect the environment, stand with unions, and safeguard Medicaid for all Hoosiers. My wife and I have always been deeply committed to the healthcare field. Megan serves as a nurse practitioner at Ascension St. Vincent, while I play a critical role as a pharmacy technician in the Coumadin Clinic and Outpatient Pharmacy at Riverview Health Hospital in Noblesville. Motivated by the desire to create a better Indiana for my two young children, I have decided to run to advocate for my family, my neighbors, and my community in the Statehouse. My primary focus is quality education for all Hoosier children. I firmly believe in fully funding public schools while also being mindful of the impact of vouchers. By championing these measures, I’m striving to create a dignified learning environment for all Hoosier children, and I hope to cultivate a culture of equality within the state.
  • I believe in properly funding our public schools to ensure every child in Indiana has access to a high-quality education. While I understand that vouchers can have a place, we must be careful not to divert so much funding from our public schools that we create a system of feast or famine. Strong public education is the foundation of our communities, and it deserves our full support.
  • As a father of two young children, keeping our kids safe from gun violence in schools is deeply personal to me. While there’s no one-size-fits-all solution, I believe it’s essential that we take action now. Indiana's best step forward is to require background checks on private gun sales, ensuring that guns don’t fall into the wrong hands.
  • Protecting our environment for future generations is a responsibility I take seriously. We must be good stewards of our green spaces and work to preserve our wetlands. The impacts of climate change affect our everyday lives. As we face these challenges, we need to respect and honor our relationship with the planet, ensuring it remains a safe and sustainable place for our children and grandchildren.
I strongly believe that the working class deserves fair and dignified wages. In 2022, nearly half of Indiana's population identified as working class, and their hard work deserves to be valued. Unions play a crucial role in empowering workers, ensuring they have the ability to negotiate for better wages and working conditions. Supporting unions means standing up for the rights of everyday Hoosiers to earn a fair living and provide for their families. I also passionately believe that the Statehouse should serve all Hoosiers, especially those who are most vulnerable. Medicaid provides essential healthcare coverage to nearly 2 million low-income Hoosiers—about 1 in 5 residents—and it’s crucial that we protect this lifeline.

Candidate Connection

Joel was born and raised in Anderson, Indiana. He attended Anderson University where he met his wife Megan. After getting married they lived in Nashville, Tennessee from 2013-2020.

Upon moving back home, they settled in Cicero, Indiana where they now live with their five year old son Mitchell. Joel’s son currently attends the Little Huskies Pre-K at Hamilton Heights.

Megan and Joel have always had a heart for healthcare. His wife is a nurse practitioner at Community Health. Joel works in the Coumadin Clinic and Outpatient Pharmacy at Riverview Health in Noblesville.
  • I'm running to protect our children by requiring background checks on third party gun sales in Indiana.
  • I'm running to fight for women to have reproductive rights over their own bodies in Indiana.
  • I'm running to ensure that Hoosier families have affordable housing options in Indiana.
I’m running for State Senate so that our children can live in the Indiana they deserve. This starts with our kids feeling safe at school. The simplest way to ensure this is with common sense gun laws.

My wife and I lived in Nashville, TN for seven years. When we heard about the shooting that happened at The Covenant School in 2023, we were truly heartbroken. My goal is to help ensure that a tragedy like that never happens in the state of Indiana.

I believe in the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms, but I also believe there are simple ways to prevent access to bad actors. The easiest way is to require background checks on the sale of firearms at gun shows and third party sales. My goal is to make this a non-partisan issue, so that Democrats and Republicans can join together to keep our Hoosier children safe.
